Collection: Classes

These sewing classes are designed for folks 16 and older who want to learn in a low-pressure, supportive environment — no prior experience required. Whether you’re brand new to sewing or brushing up on the basics, Work In Process KC classes focus on practical skills, confidence-building, and learning by doing.

Classes are taught in small groups to keep things approachable. You’ll learn how to safely use a sewing machine, understand materials, and complete a functional project you can actually use. All tools and supplies are provided, and classes are offered using our Pay What You Can (PWYC) model to help remove financial barriers to learning.

Most classes run about three hours and are hosted as pop-ups around Kansas City. Machines, tools, and instruction are included — you just show up curious. These classes are meant to make you “dangerous enough” to not be scared of the sewing machine and empowered to keep learning on your own.
